Class Overview

All Classes held at Northwest Dance Project's Creative Center at 211 NE 10th Ave (at Davis St).

NW Dance Project holds exceptional classes for adults and youths seven days a week in a variety of styles including ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, jazz, improv, and creative movement, as well as a number of fitness classes. All are welcome.

Adult Class Information

Our Open Adult Dance Classes are specially geared for dancers 13 years+. All classes are accessible and available on a drop-in basis. You can join a class at any time.

Our drop-in rate is just $15 cash / $16 credit, debit, check. Discount Card – $130 for 10 classes – expires 2 months from purchase date. Flex Card – $150 for 10 classes – expires 1 year from purchase date.

Workshop classes are offered on multi-week, cost-saving sessions (these classes are also available on a drop-in basis).

NW Dance Project holds dance classes for adults taught by a variety of instructors and coaches with years of professional experience in their dance disciplines. For beginners, classes are a fun way to get fit while gaining dance experience. for more experienced dancers, classes are more technical, advanced and challenging.

Youth Class Information

NW Dance Project offers exceptional year-round programming for youth. Dancers will experience the joy of dance taught by Portland’s finest teachers. Our youth dance classes and dance camps are specially geared for dancers 4 to 18 years old.

Our philosophy focuses on technique, movement skills, strengthening and conditioning, versatility, and creativity to support a balanced dance training education. Our programs provide a comprehensive approach to training that takes into consideration each individual dancer’s needs and progression. We love creative expression, imagination, engagement, and offer in-depth instruction in a supportive and encouraging environment.

All youth dance classes and dance camps are only available on multi-week, cost-saving sessions. Registration is required.

We hold three sessions per school year: Fall, Winter, and Spring. During the summer months, we offer multiple intensives, camps and workshops for dancers to learn, explore and create.


For dancers between 9 to 18

  • Students enrolled in our full professional program will be required to complete all Ballet and two Contemporary dance technique classes offered in their level and will experience comprehensive training that provides in-depth study of the techniques that support a professional dance career.
  • Full program tuition is significantly reduced from individual class costs to enrich, and complete a full and balanced dance education.
  • Students will be featured in our annual Spring Artist Showcase at Lincoln Performance Hall – June 12 / 2016.

Students should expect to complete a minimum of a year’s study in each level (age appropriate) before moving up to the next level. Placement and advancement is at the discretion of the teacher. Great consideration is taken in the class placement process. Students move through our curriculum according to ability, development and age.

Students in Ballet Levels 2, 3.5, 4 and 5 are required to enroll in all curriculum classes listed for the Ballet Program.

Recommended attire

Ballet Class Attire:  Comfortable form-fitting athletic dance wear (leotard, sport Ts, tights, shorts, etc.). Long hair pulled back or clipped. All dancers should wear ballet slippers.

Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Rock Your Body, Yoga and Core Balance:  Dance, yoga or athletic wear. Bare feet, socks or ballet slippers appropriate. No Dark-Soled Shoes.

We recommend The Leotard for all your dancewear needs.

Don’t forget to bring a water bottle!
