Zuzu Metzler grew up in Camas, Washington, and has been involved with OBT and its school since 2008. Having trained with notable teachers such as Damara Bennett and Anthony Jones, she joined OBT2 in 2017. After a year, she was promoted to apprentice with the company, and has been a company dancer since 2020. She was awarded the Elena Carter Memorial Scholarship and has spent summers at Pacific Northwest Ballet School, San Francisco Ballet School, the School of American Ballet, and Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell. Her favorite performances and roles include Nicolo Fonte’s Accidental Signals, Amore and the Queen of Dryads in the Annual School Performance of the Dream Scene from Don Quixote. She has enjoyed dancing roles in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker such as Dewdrop and the Sugarplum Fairy as well as Jewels in Christopher Stowell’s the Sleeping Beauty and the Winter Fairy in Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella. Zuzu teaches at the Oregon Ballet Theatre School and is looking forward to working with Northwest Dance Project’s School this coming year.
