Carmen's return + new work wow audiences

November 18, 2025  |  News

After a seven-year absence, Ihsan Rustem's much-lauded take on Carmen returned to the stage and brought the delighted, cheering crowd to their feet! Similarly, our second original work from the fantastic Caroline Finn, the full-company Don't Forget to Panic, brought the captivated crowd to its feet mid-show and had them buzzing about the work.
Reviewing the show for Oregon ArtsWatch, Amy Leona Havin noted, "The world premiere of Caroline Finn's "Don't Forget to Panic" and the return of Ihsan Rustem's "Carmen" with original stars Andrea Parson and Franco Nieto create a pleasurably riveting evening. (Finn's) intricate and driving dance progressed in a groundedness and theatricality...involving group sections, rhythmic interludes, and the crowd-pleasing “line at the front of the stage.” The dancers rode along with the exciting music with great expression, stretching themselves to their maximums and exhibiting fearlessness in lifts and partnering sequences. Finn’s work has all the checkmark makings of a great dance — surprise, striking play, moments of pause, and wide use of the space...Just as in Don’t Forget to Panic, the dancers of Carmen deliver striking performances, fully committing to the over-amplified acting direction and diving head-first into the challenging full-bodied choreography.
