Rick Gonzalez

Rick was born in Havana Cuba. At the age of eighteen he began his ballet training at the Martha Mahr School of ballet in Miami Florida and with Mr Thomas Armour of the Miami Conservatory. Only six months later, he was awarded a full scholarship to the prestigious School of American Ballet in New York City. Once at the school he was privileged to have trained not only with the incomparable Stanly Williams but also with such greats as Mikhail Baryshnikov, Peter Martins and the genius and iconic Mr. George Balanchine. As a professional dancer, he danced with many national and international ballet companies such as the The Boston Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, The Washington Ballet and Maurice Bejart’s-Ballet 20th Century. After a rewarding career as a soloist dancer, Rick then went on to dance on Broadway and through out Europe portraying leading roles in productions of “West Side Story”, “A Chorus Line”, “Cats”, Miss Saigon”, “Chicago”, “Victor Victoria”, and “Grease”. His teaching career has taken him around the world. Teaching for The Frankfort Ballet Company, in Frankfort Germany, Ayumi Ballet Company, Tokyo Japan, Ballet Basil, Basil Switzerland, The Boston Ballet II Company, The Alvin Ailey School, The Shanghai Ballet Company, and City Ballet of Los Angeles.

As a choreographer Rick has worked with The Boston Ballet II, The Pennsylvania Ballet, The Carlyle Project, The Shanghai Ballet Company, Li’s Ballet, City Ballet of Los Angeles, Grease Das Musical (Dusseldorf Germany) and Catherine, Aachen Germany.
