Join us as we begin our third decade of creating and premiering exceptional new contemporary dance works made in Portland and revive some crowd favorites.
Sarah Slipper revisits a pair of works inspired from the page — Casual Act based on Harold’s Pinter’s lauded play, Betrayal, as well as her acclaimed full evening Hedda, the retelling of Henrik Ibsen’s iconic theater work, Hedda Gabler.
Ihsan Rustem will remount his meditative and dramatic Yidam from 2015, which has been performed at the Bolshoi and esteemed stages throughout Europe, and later turns to the music of French songbird Edith Piaf for his fourteenth original work for the company.
As always, we’ll turn our winter show over to the dancers to create, produce, and perform, and we’ll close out the season with a real treat — a new, contemporary take on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream from celebrated returning Spanish choreographer Gustavo Ramirez Sansano.
